Chapter 9
Raja Vidyaa Guhya Yoga

The Yoga of Royal Knowledge and Profound Secrets

9:01
Sri Bhagavaan uvaacha:
idam tu te guhya-tamam
pravakshyaam-yana-sooyave
jnaanam vijnaana-sahitam
yajjnaatvaa mokshyase-’shubhaat (SBG 9:01)

Bhagavan Shri Krishna said:
Since you are not envious of Me, I shall now teach you the most confidential wisdom, knowing which, you will be liberated from the miseries of material existence.

9:02
raaja-vidyaa raaja-guhyam
pavitra mida-muttamam
pratyakshaa-vagamam dharmyam
su-sukham kartu mavyayam (SBG 9:02)

This is the Royal science, the supremely holy and profound secret that can be experienced directly and with ease. It is easy to practise and is everlasting.

9:03

ashraddha-dhaanaah purushaa
dharma-syaasya parantapa
apraapya maam nivartante
mrityu-samsaara-vartmani (SBG 9:03)

O Parantapa, those who have no faith in this Dharma  and continue to consider the body as the Self, fail to attain Me. They remain stuck in the path of Samsaara, which is the recurring cycle of repetitive births and deaths.
——————————

9:04
mayaa tata-midam sarvam-
jagadavyak-tamoortinaa
matsthaani sarva-bhootaani
na chaaham teshva-vasthitaha (SBG 9:04)

The entire Universe is pervaded by Me in My unmanifest aspect.  All beings exist in Me, but I do not dwell in them.
——————————
9:05
na cha matsthaani bhootaani
pashya me yoga-maishvaram
bhoota-bhrinna cha bhootastho
mamaatmaa bhoota-bhaavanaha (SBG 9:05)

Nor do beings rest in Me. Behold My mystic, divine and inconceivable Yoga. I am the source and support of all objects and yet not influenced by them.
——————————
9:06
yathaa-kaasha-sthito nityam
vaayuhu sarvatrago mahaan
tathaa sarvaaNi bhootaani
matsthaa-neet-yupadhaa-raya (SBG 9:06)

As the mighty wind, moving everywhere, rests in the ether, you should know that all beings rest in Me.
——————————
9:07

sarva-bhootaani kaunteya
prakritim yaanti maami-kaam
kalpakshaye punastaani
kalpaadau visru-jaamyaham (SBG 9:07)

All beings, O Arjuna, enter into My Nature at the end of a cosmic cycle or Kalpa and I send them forth again at the beginning of the next Kalpa.
——————————
9:08

prakritim svaama-vashtabhya
visrijaami punah punaha
bhoota-graama-mimam kritsnam
avasham prakriter-vashaat (SBG 9:08)

The entire cosmic system is under Me and I send a multitude of beings again and again which have no freedom because they are under the control of the forces of Nature.
——————————
9:09

na cha maam taani karmaaNi
nibadh-nanti dhananjaya
udaa-seena-vadaa-seenam-
asaktam teshu-karmasu (SBG 9:09)

These acts do not bind Me, O Arjuna, as I am neutral and unattached.
——————————
9:10
mayaa’dhyaksheNa prakrutih
sooyate sacharaa-charam
hetunaanena kaunteya
jagad-vipari-vartate (SBG 9:10)

O Arjuna, it is under My direction and control that Nature brings out living and non-living forms. Thus undergoes the entire cosmic manifestation changes of creation, preservation and dissolution.
——————————
9:11

avajaananti maam mood-haa
maanu-sheem tanu-maashritam
param bhaava-majaananto
mama bhoota-maheshvaram (SBG 9:11)

Foolish people, due to their lack of understanding of My higher nature as the Supreme Bhagavan of everything that exists, disregard Me when I descend in the human form.
——————————
9:12

moghaa-shaa mogha-karmaaNo
mogha jnaanaa vichetasaha
raakshaseem-aasureem chaiva
prakritim mohineem shritaaha (SBG 9:12)

Their understanding is befuddled and perverted, and they are attracted by non divine and demoniacal ideas. They are cruel, vain, senseless and their culture, as well as knowledge, are destroyed. Their nature resembles that of Rakshasas and Asuras.
——————————
9:13

bhajantya-nanya-manaso
jnaatvaa bhootaa-dima-vyayam (SBG 9:13)

But great souls, who are endowed with divine qualities, take shelter in Me and know Me as the Immutable source of everything. They adore Me with single minded devotion.
——————————
9:14

namasyan-tash-cha maam bhaktyaa
nitya-yuktaa upaasate (SBG 9:14)

Steadfast in their vows, these ever integrated devotees worship Me with deep devotion and humbly bow down before Me.

jnaana-yajnena chaap-yanye
yajanto maamu-paasate
ekatvena prithaktvena
bahudhaa vishva-tomukham (SBG 9:15)

Others who work on cultivation of knowledge, worship Me, the All-Inclusive Supreme Brahman in My universal form. Some see Me as the Universal Oneness not different from them, while others, worship Me in My infinite manifestations.
——————————
9:16

maha-magniraham hutam (SBG 9:16)

I am Kratu the ritual, I am Yagnyaa the sacrifice, I am the benefaction, I am the healing herb, I am the Mantra, I am certainly the clarified butter, I am the fire and the offering.
——————————
9:17

gatir-bhartaa prabhuh saakshee
nivaa-saha sharaNam suhrit
prabhavah pralayaha sthaanam
nidhaanam beeja-mavyayam (SBG 9:18)

I am the Supreme Goal, the Sustainer, the Bhagavan, the Witness, the Abode, the Shelter, the Friend, the Origin, the Dissolution, the Foundation, the Treasure-house and the Imperishable seed.
——————————

tapaam-yaha-maham varsham
nigruNhaam-yut-srujaami cha
amritam chaiva mrityush-cha
sada-sacchaa-hamarjuna (SBG 9:19)

I give heat; I withhold and send forth the rain; I am Immortality and also Death personified, the Spirit as well as Matter or existence and non-existence, O Arjuna.
——————————
9:20

yajnairishtvaa svargatim praartha-yante
te puNya-maasaadya surendralokam
ash-nanti divyaan-divi deva-bhogaan (SBG 9:20)

Those who know the three Vedas and the drinkers of the Soma juice which is the remnant of Yagnyas; are purified of all sins and they worship Me by sacrifices. They pray for the way to the heavenly abode and reach the holy world of Indra, the king of the deities and enjoy divine pleasures.
——————————
9:21

te tam bhuktvaa svargalokam vishaalam
ksheeNe puNye martyalokam vishanti
evam trayee-dharma-manu-prapannaa
gataa-gatam kaama-kaamaa labhante

After having enjoyed the heavenly pleasures and after their merits have been exhausted, they fall into the planet of mortals again. Therefore those who abide by Vedic rituals with a desire of enjoying worldly pleasures, come and go by attaining birth and death.
——————————
9:22

To those people who worship Me alone, thinking of no other, I give My assurance that they get what they want and preserve what they have.
——————————

9:23

yajante shraddha-yaa’nvitaaha
te’pi maameva kaunteya
yajantya-vidhi-poorvakam (SBG 9:23)

Those who worship other deities with faith are also worshiping Me, but they are doing it without true understanding.
——————————
9:24
aham hi sarva-yajnaanaam
bhoktaa cha prabhureva cha
na tu maama-bhijaa-nanti
tattve-naatash-chyavanti te (SBG 9:24)

I am the enjoyer and the Bhagavan of all Sacrifices, but those who do not know Me in reality, fall into the world of mortals and revolve in the cycle of birth and death.
——————————

9:25

Those who worship Deities, go to them; those who worship ancestors, go to their ancestors; people who worship ghosts and spirits, go to them; and those who worship Me, will surely come unto Me.
——————————
9:26

yat-karoshi yadash-naasi
yajju-hoshi dadaasi yat
yatta-pasyasi kaunteya
tat-kurushva madar-paNam (SBG 9:27)

Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer in sacrifice, whatever you give, whatever you practise as austerity, O Arjuna, do it for Me and as an offering unto Me.
——————————
9:28

By doing so, you will be freed from the bonds of action that result in good and in bad. By being free and with your mind guided by the principle of the Yoga of renunciation, you will attain Me.
——————————
9:29

samo’ham sarva-bhooteshu
na me dveshyo’sti na priyaha
ye bhajanti tu maam bhaktyaa
mayi te teshu chaapyaham (SBG 9:29)

I am the same to all living beings. There is no one I am partial to. However, those who worship Me with love and devotion, are in Me and I too am in them.

——————————
9:30

api chet-suduraa-chaaro
bhajate maama-nanyabhaak
saadhureva sa mantavyah
samyag-vyavasito hi saha (SBG 9:30)

Even if the most sinful worships Me, with exclusive devotion, he should indeed be regarded as a righteous person for he has taken the right resolution.
——————————
9:31

Anyone can come unto Me, O Paartha, whatever be their race, gender or social status. Even those shunned by society can approach Me the Supreme Destination and attain the Highest Goal.

kim punar-braahmaNaaha puNyaa
bhaktaa raajar-shayasta-thaa
anitya-ma-sukham lokam
imam-praapya bhajasva maam (SBG 9:33)

The righteous, sages, devotees and saintly kings, attain me although they have attained temporary life in this transient world of miseries. They engage in absolute devotion unto Me.
